Installations

Rooftop Installation

R-E CANADA offers complete rooftop installation packages to suit most applications of the Honeywell Wind Turbine as well as custom installs.

Pros

  • Relatively quick easy installation
  • Accessible
  • Allows turbine installation on smaller, congested lots, or properties with no auger truck access, or properties where local by-laws or ordinances were drafted with traditional wind turbines in mind, typically requiring a minimum property line setback of the height from the top of the turbine to the ground, including the pole.

Cons

  • Should not be used on rooftops having higher neighboring wind obstacles, within close proximity, in the direction of prevailing winds
  • Some consider turbine appearance to erode architectural appeal of building, R-E Canada dissagrees
  • Should not be placed in low pressure areas of any roof, for instance, downwind of a higher ridge line
  • Boom truck required to hoist turbine onto roof

Pole Mount

R-E CANADA offers complete rooftop installation packages to suit most applications of the Honeywell Wind Turbine as well as custom installs.

Pros

  • Allows for site installations where rooftop is too shadowed by neighboring wind obstacles
  • Direct buried poles, relatively quick and affordable auger truck installs, can typically hoist turbine as well as pole.
  • Allows for installs on highest grade on property, higher is better.
  • Wide selection of poles; economical class two, wooden utility poles, round galvanized steel or architecturally appealing decorative steel or pre-stress engineered concrete poles

Cons

  • Requires auger truck access
  • Some local by-laws or ordinances were drafted with traditional wind turbines in mind typically requiring a minimum property line setback of the height from the top of the turbine to the ground.
  • Underground trenching required.
  • Maximum D.C. wire run, down pole to smart box inside is 200 feet.(current drop)

PLEASE NOTE:

It is important in the placement of all wind turbines that you have an understanding of the wind speed at your site location, this will be necessary to verify the approximate output of the turbine you have chosen. People often believe they have a good wind source, but this is not always the case.

The Honeywell Wind Turbine’s energy generation is measured against class 4 and class 3 wind speeds, (33 ft high, clear wind zone) however many factors will affect the output of the turbine at each location depending on placement. Your location can be effected by trees, terrain and obstructions such as buildings next door, even placement from one end of a building or the other can affect the output. Correct site assessment is important to enhance the performance of your turbine.
